Teamwork
“Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships.”
Michael Jordan
Teams are a combination of personalities and it takes good chemistry for individuals to come together as a team. An excellent way of building team spirit is to practice together.
Try playing scotch doubles and change the teams every game so each member plays with rotating partners. After the break, discuss your shot selection and strategy. If it’s eight ball, the choice of stripes or solids would obviously be a major decision.
Continue through the entire rack with an open discussion of shots and the best way to play them. Topics such as whether to remain offensive or play safe can be sorted out, along with any problems you anticipate and how to solve them. Let everyone talk.
Doing this together gives the team members an opportunity to understand how each other thinks, and in the process, valuable information will get passed on. This approach is especially helpful to members of the team who may be less experienced. Knowledge wins games and lays the cornerstone for confident play.
A team approach is a sure fire way to take a group of individuals and create a team with a supporting cast. Start building your team today!
