Specialty Shots
“These are the shots you need in your bag, so master them.” Rick Grayson.
There’s a variety of shots in pool that come up regularly. They’re not exactly bread and butter material, but when you need them, nothing else will do. Learn how to handle them in practice. When they come up in a match, you don’t want to be guessing. Here’s a short list of shots to work on:
- TICKY SHOT– Cue ball hits a rail, then an object ball, and then returns to the rail.
- CAROM SHOT– An object ball contacts another ball before it goes into the pocket.
- KISS SHOT– The cue ball contacts an object ball before it pockets another ball.
- KICK BANK SHOT– Cue ball hits a rail and kicks an object ball into a pocket.
- RAIL FIRST KISS– An object ball is driven into a rail and kisses off another object ball and into the pocket.
Practice these shots. When you see them in competition, you’ll have the confidence to shoot them with authority!
