Great Moments
“To be a part of that winning team...I will live with that for the rest of my life.”
-Rodney Morris
Great moments from past performances go a long way to build confidence. When faced with a tough shot in a match, past successes provide a burst of empowering energy.
Recall a moment when you pocketed a similarly tough shot to clinch a match. Tap into your senses and relive the moment. Listen to the crowd cheering after you nailed it, and see the faces of friends shaking your hand. Open the floodgates of your memory and let those vivid images play out.
It doesn't need to be a long drawn out process. You can experience it much like viewing an old photograph. Appreciate it as a priceless moment and let that positive feeling bubble up. Remembering anything good can have a positive effect on your performance.
When you win a match with a spectacular shot, celebrate it! Enjoy the moment. Think about it for a few days. Capture the details in a journal so you can recall them later and revisit them from time to time. This makes them easier to recall.
Always stay positive. Tell yourself, "I've done this before, I can do it again!" Constant positive reinforcement gives you the best chance for success!
